What is Cancer
Cancer is an abnormal growth of abnormal cells, that grow much more rapidly than normal cells and that refuse to die like normal cells do. Cancer cells are very selfish – they are only interested in their own survival and not the survival of their host, like normal cells are. You can think of cancer cells as a new species growing within in the body.
In order for these abnormal cells to develop, there must be damage to the chromosomes of the cell, which is where the cells genetic code, or DNA is kept. Damage to the cells chromosomes leads to an unequal number of chromosomes and also a change or mutation in the DNA of the cell. Scientists have estimated that it takes 5 or 6 mutations by a damaged cell to produce a cancer cell. This mutated cell then is very different to the original cell and grows uncontrollably.
This damage to the cell that leads to the mutation can be caused by a number of factors such as; X-rays or radiation, carcinogens such as cigarette smoke, heavy metals, pesticides, pollutants and numerous other man-made chemicals, decreased energy production in the cell, an accumulation of toxins, both external and internal, stress, a poor diet (which does not provide adequate nutrients that the cells require to function normally), hormonal imbalances, and viruses.
However a major cause for all cancer has been proven by Dr. Otto Warburg who discovered that all cancer cells live almost entirely on glucose. Instead of using oxygen and fats as their main source of fuel as normal cells do, cancer cells use mainly sugar or glucose for energy production, which is much more inefficient. Dr Warburg is the only physician to win the nobel prize for medicine twice and was considered one of the most influential doctors of the 20th century.
Alternative Cancer Cure
