By Dr Theodore | July 28, 2010

Are you are feeling tired most of the time and have lost your zest for life? Have you put on extra weight and are your muscles turning into flab? Have you lost your strength? Is your mood flat? Have you lost your interest in sex, or is it just plain hard work having sex these days? Is your energy and vitality nothing like it used to be, or do you feel a mere shadow of your former self?

If you have been nodding your head to most of the above questions, and you are over 40 years of age, then there is a strong chance that you may be suffering from a medical condition named low testosterone.

This condition is increasingly common in men (and to a lesser extent, women) in our society due to a number of factors, however the good news is that it can easily and safely be treated.

If you suffer from diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity or lung disease and you are over 40, your chances of having low testosterone are 1 in 3.

Hormone therapy using natural testosterone therapy will help you to feel and look much better, will dramatically boost your desire and ability to have much more dynamic sex, and is hence a very effective form of natural hormone therapy.

Bioidentical hormone therapy using natural testosterone will also boost muscle size, reduce body fat, improve your mood, boost your heart function, help you to feel energized and full of vitality, and importantly, can give you a feeling of youthful exuberance once again.

After all, who doesn’t want to feel young, sexual, muscular, and energized again?

Testosterone therapy can restore your sagging testosterone levels to a much more youthful state and is able to safely do all of the above and more.

Women have used estrogen therapy or estrogen replacement therapy for many years, and more recently progesterone replacement therapy is proving to be very effective for women as well. Estrogen hormone therapy is much safer and effective when natural or bioidentical hormones are used, and the same applies to men considering male hormone replacement.

Hormone replacement therapy for both men and women is a key component in a complete anti aging program.

Symptoms Of Low Testosterone

Testosterone deficiency is not something to take lightly. In fact, it has been linked with an increased risk of heart disease and depression. Low testosterone levels can exhibit a broad range of signs & symptoms. These include:

Dr Jonathan V. Wright, MD (Co-Author of “Maximize Your Vitality and Potency – For Men Over 40″) writes the following about natural testosterone:

“For over 30 years, I’ve worked with men ages 45 and up whose symptoms and tests indicated a need for bio-identical testosterone. The results have been gratifying for everyone involved. Most notably, bio-identical testosterone therapy helps improve mood, attitude, cognitive ability, and general outlook on life. Many wives and families have observed that “Grandpa is a lot less grumpy,” remembers things better, and laughs and smiles a lot more often.

Plus, bio-identical testosterone improves muscle mass and strength, rebuilds bone, strengthens the heart and blood vessels, lowers total cholesterol and blood sugar, raises HDL (”good”) cholesterol, lowers blood pressure, lessens the chances of blood clots, improves tissue oxygenation, improves the health of a non-cancerous prostate gland-and that’s all before we get to testosterone’s positive effects on libido and your sex life.”

How To Test For Low Testosterone

Before you can determine if you are a candidate for male hormone therapy using testosterone, you must have your testosterone levels accurately checked. Since testosterone is a fat soluble hormone it travels in your blood bound to a carrier protein, which renders it inactive.

Standard blood tests will not reveal the free or active levels of this hormone, hence saliva hormone testing is required. As well as testing for testosterone, it is important to also check your estrogen levels, as in many men a large amount of testosterone is converted into estrogen. This is not what you want, as estrogen is responsible for fat gain, prostate problems, low libido and other unwanted effects.

It’s important to also know how to interpret the test results of the tests – even if your testosterone is in the “normal” range, what does that mean? Do you want to be in the normal range for a 70 yr old man? Not really. The aim of testosterone therapy is to boost your testosterone levels to those of a healthy 30yr old man.

Testosterone Therapy

Male hormone replacement therapy doctors who use natural testosterone correctly will be able to quickly and safely restore normal health and function to men that are deficient in testosterone. However, the key word here is “correctly”. There are many types of testosterone available and knowing which one to use and how is crucial to your success with testosterone therapy.

How do you know whether you should be using a testosterone cream or testosterone injections? Which forms of testosterone are natural and are exactly the same as what your body produces? What are the important precautions you must be aware of before commencing testosterone therapy? What are the possible side effects to watch for after you have commenced therapy? How long should you take testosterone therapy for?
